MARGINAL SEVERE WEATHER RISK TODAY… Numerous showers and a few embedded thunderstorms are happening across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Sunday afternoon.
Rain and storms are set to continue this afternoon and into the evening. Good news is that rain and storms will exit our area by 9PM to the east. The week ahead looks unsettled and mild. Let’s talk about the details…

LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK THIS AFTERNOON… The Storm Prediction Center has much of Alabama, Mississippi, and northwest Florida included in their Level 1 (out of 5) marginal, low-end severe weather risk zone. This includes ALL of south Alabama and northwest Florida. Basically, this means there is a chance that a couple of tornadoes could happen along with an isolated strong storm or two that could produce damaging straight line winds. MOST of us, however, should have no big issues. Severe weather parameters and forcing mechanisms will shift out of our area between 5 and 7PM. Please be “weather ready” over the next few hours!

WARNINGS, COVERAGE, APP… Let me remind you that the Century-Flomaton EF3 tornado happened on a Level 2 “slight” risk day. Today is a Level 1 marginal risk day, but that doesn’t mean some isolated spots won’t have severe weather. It means a few of us COULD have a stronger storm. If tornado warnings are required for any part of our local area (as defined at redzoneweather.com/coverage), I’ll be providing our uninterrupted streaming coverage across our platforms.
You’ll certainly want to check out the Alerts tab (bottom right corner of the RZWeather app) and tap the large, yellow “Alert Settings” tab to configure the alerts you want to receive from us.

EARLY NEXT WEEK… Monday, clouds clear out to the east, and the entirety of southwest Alabama and northwest Florida should be sunny by the end of the day. High temps will consistently be in the 70s over the next seven days. Tuesday could feature a few isolated showers, particularly between 2PM and 7PM. No severe weather issues are expected as these will be tiny, isolated showers.

Let me know if you have specific weather questions. All the forecast details are in your Sunday #rzw forecast video… Have a nice evening!
