SALLY TRACK SHIFTS EAST; HIGHER WINDS IMPACTS LIKELY LOCALLY… The forecast track for Tropical Storm (soon-to-be Hurricane) Sally has shifted to the right/east as of 10:30PM Sunday. This means that high wind impacts will be more likely to happen (compared to earlier projections) across coastal areas of Alabama. In addition, even higher rain amounts are not out of the question with 15-20″ of rain in total being possible near Dauphin Island and southern Mobile County. Further forecast changes will be possible overnight. In addition, there is a chance that Sally strengthens into a hurricane overnight as a large burst of convection has fired up over the center of circulation. This suggests strengthening, perhaps rapid strengthening, may happen shortly. Big takeaway – be sure to check in for an update Monday (tomorrow) morning!

WHAT TO EXPECT OVERNIGHT… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible through daybreak. The overall tornado risk overnight is near zero for inland counties and very low at the coast. The tornado risk will gradually kick off in the morning hours after sunrise as more in the way of rain and storms move in from the southeast. Intermittent heavy rain will become possible near the coast first on Monday morning before spreading inland throughout the day.

APP… Be sure to download our free RedZone Weather app if you haven’t done so already. redzoneweather.com/app is the link where you can download the app for your iOS or Android device. Once you have the app downloaded, be sure to visit the Alerts tab in the lower right corner of the app to select the specific notifications you would like to receive straight from me.

My next detailed forecast video will be posted by 7:15AM unless we happen to need live tornado warning coverage before that, which seems rather unlikely at this point. Sleep well and have a good night!
